This article provides an overview that will benefit all clinicians working with women who present with symptoms of urinary and / or faecal incontinence. At initial assessment women should be asked about both types of incontinence, there are many women with urinary symptoms who also have anal incontinence but are too ashamed to admit to it. This article incudes a review of the clinical evidence, including the 6th edition of the International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI 2017) with regard to the conservative management and treatment of both mixed urinary incontinence (MUI) and anal incontinence (AI) in women.
