Today is the last day of ICS 2016 in Tokyo and my final communication to you as ICS General Secretary. It was my manifesto when accepting the position as GS to leave the society in a financially stable position, producing high scientific output and a more reputable institution. I hope I have fulfilled this promise and look forward to continuing within ICS as a member. This week I have wanted members and delegates to take home how ICS is a work hard, play hard society and from the feedback that I have received, this has been achieved.
The Board would like to thank Yukio Homma and his local organising committee for inviting us to Tokyo and showing us what Japan has to offer. We have enjoyed an excellent scientific programme and a most hospitable city. And of course, what a superb ICI event. We look forward to seeing the final book in mid-2017.
My thanks to everyone for attending ICS 2016 and a special thank you to the many of you who took the time to submit an abstract or workshop application. Without our scientific programme, workshop presenters and chairs there would be no meeting. We hope that you felt the meeting was beneficial and that you will consider submitting or attending again in the future.
The board are keen to receive your feedback on the meeting, and this can be provided at the evaluation survey. You will also receive your certificate of attendance at the end of the evaluation.
Next year's meeting will take place on September 12th - 15th 2017 in Florence, Italy. We sincerely hope you will attend what promises to be a most unique Annual Scientific Meeting.
Workshop application submission opens 1st November, closing on 4th January 2017. Abstract submissions open on 1st March 2017 and closes on 1st April 2017. For more information on ICS 2017 or how to submit your workshop/abstract then please see the ICS website: http://www.ics.org/2017
