ICS and ICI 6th book

Over the last 12 years, the International Consultation on Incontinence (ICI) has established itself as one of the foremost and widely quoted set of international guidelines on the management of urinary and faecal incontinence. Many of the contributors are active ICS members and the published work of the consultation directly fits with the mission and strategic aims of the ICS. So it is most appropriate, and with much pride, that the ICS be directly involved once again. The International Consultation on Urological Diseases (ICUD) states that the books "are highly appreciated and often become regarded as the “bible” for that subject.”

We hope that delegates can attend as many ICI sessions as are relevant to them. We are pleased to confirm that ICI sessions are open for all meeting delegates at no extra cost. Each session is 25 minutes and includes time for questions.

History and principal aim

The ICUD was established as a scientific, international, non-profit association on 28 June, 1994. The first International Consultation on Incontinence was held in 1998 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

The principal aim of the ICUD is to promote the improvement in the management of urological diseases worldwide by producing evidence based recommendations. The ICUD seeks to achieve this aim by bringing together experts representing the major urological organisations world-wide into consultations that produce recommendations that are based on a transparent process which examines and analyses the available literature according to the principles of evidence-based medicine. The recommendations from each consultation must be suitable for use in all parts of the world, recognising that the health services' resources differ widely between countries. These recommendations are not intended to be used as guidelines, although the ICUD is happy for any national or regional organisation to use the ICUD consultation recommendations as part of the production of guidelines.
