‘An Urge to Act’ Manifesto
The recent Continence Health Summit 2023, held in Brussels on 8 November, saw the signing of the Continence Health Manifesto by over 20 organisations, including the ICS, EAU, WFIPP and SINUG.
The purpose of the Summit, which focused on the ‘Urge to Act’ initiative, was to strike up awareness among policymakers of continence health problems and instill the need for action while building a strong stakeholder stance. The manifesto makes recommendations to European and national policymakers to recognise the importance of patient-centred continence care.
A report commissioned by the EAU exploring the economic burden of incontinence within Europe, which is estimated to be approximately €69.1 billion, can be viewed below:

Collaboration in Continence Care 4Cs
Following the momentum of the EU Continence Health Summit 2023, the Commitment to Collaboration in Continence Care (4Cs) multistakeholder group (as represented by ICS, EAU, SINUG and WFIPP) met in Valencia on 10 November to review progress made during 2023 and to agree priorities for 2024.
Discussion focused on maintaining impetus from the manifesto launch and participants agreed that policymakers are a key audience for engagement in 2024. Methods to continue to increase awareness and education of urologists, faculties of medicine, allied healthcare professionals and the general public were also reviewed.
