From Monday 15th to Friday 19th October the China National Convention Centre played host to the first ICS annual meeting to be held in China, and the first in Asia in over a decade.
The meeting attracted 2,000 delegates, from all four corners of the globe, who attended a packed programme of workshops, poster and podium sessions, State of the Art lectures, presentations and symposia – including the OAB debate in honour of Norman Zinner, which was extremely popular and one of the highlights of the meeting.
The meeting had a truly authentic Chinese feel, with delegates being warmly welcomed to Beijing through a host of fascinating social events, such as the Welcome Reception at the CNCC which included traditional lion dancing. The opening ceremony hosted Chinese folk music and kung fu, and the finale at the Annual Dinner in the Bird’s Nest completed the festivities with a Chinese opera and jazz band.
Special thanks go to the annual meeting chairman Limin Liao and his Local Organising Committee for a truly unforgettable meeting.
