Congratulations to ICS member, Anne Suskind, on receiving the 2020 Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) Zimskind Award. It is wonderful to see so many ICS members receiving international awards for their significant contributions to their field.
Anne is the Associate Professor of Urology; Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research focuses on treatment outcomes in frail older adults with urologic conditions. She is particularly interested in understanding the unintended consequences associated with what are considered to be relatively “minor” urologic procedures in this population. Her research leverages large national databases, such as Medicare claims data, to understand the impact of various urologic treatments (both medical and surgical) on a national level. Anne's work is ultimately committed to improving care for this unique and vulnerable older patient population.
In 1979 The Society of Urodynamic Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) established the Paul Zimskind Award, given annually to a member of their organisation, who are within ten years of completing residency or fellowship, and have made significant contributions to the field, primarily through basic and clinical research, and has shown great potential for continuing and progressive scholarship.
Anne is being recognised for her cumulative work in the area of female urologic issues in frail older adults. She will receive the award during the SUFU annual meeting.
If you would like to put yourself on the road to being an ICS distinguished member then submit your abstract to ICS today! Don't forget ICS is also offering a Best Ethics Presentation Award at ICS 2020. This award is open to all ICS 2020 abstract applicants but we are particularly keen to receive applications from students, fellows or junior faculty who have not previously submitted an abstract to the ICS.
