ICS General Secretary
Tufan Tarcan, MD, PhD finished his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine (1991) and urology residency at Marmara University (1996). He completed his fellowships in adult and pediatric neurourology in the United States (Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School, respectively). He holds a PhD degree at “Histology and Embryology” and his main area of interest is “Functional and Female Urology” and “Pediatric Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction”.
Dr. Tarcan is Professor of Urology at Marmara University School of Medicine Istanbul, since 2006. He is also a Visiting Professor of Urology at Koç University School of Medicine Istanbul, since 2013. He is director of Functional Urology Units at both Universities.
Dr. Tarcan is the General Secretary of the International Continence Society (ICS), former chair of the ICS Urodynamics Committee (2020-2025), member of the ICI Research Society and board member in EAU Section of Functional Urology (EAU Functional). Dr. Tarcan is the past president of the Turkish Continence Society (TCS). He is an advisory board member to the official journal of ICS, Continence. and associate editor to Neurourology & Urodynamics, the official journal of SUFU.
