Frankie Bates graduated in London, England as a registered nurse in 1980. She obtained her Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy certificate in Montreal in 1999 and Nurse Continence Advisor certificate from McMaster University, Ontario in 1998.
Frankie co-manages a Urology Clinic in New Brunswick, which she and a colleague developed from the ground up and extended over time to include 7 different treatment clinics.. She has worked in this field for 28 years. Her specialties include urinary incontinence, pelvic floor physiotherapy and erectile dysfunction .She has been involved in multiple clinical trials as a primary coordinator in the field of urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction.
Frankie has previously held positions on the board of directors of The Canadian Continence Foundation, The Urology Nurses of Canada, The Canadian Continence Foundation and is presently on the Education committee of The International Continence Society, presently on her second term. Frankie has been a member of the ICS since 2003 with only one year lapse in membership since that time. She previously served on the Continence Promotion Committee of the ICS for 2 terms.
Frankie has presented hundreds of lectures on multiple urological topics in North America and globally. She has authored numerous articles in peer reviewed journals, four of which received national editorial awards. Frankie most recently was the lead author on a chapter on Management of FI for community dwelling adults (for advanced practice nurses).
