Aims and Objectives
|
The aim of this workshop is to present hospitalisation of an older person as an opportunity to identify, diagnose and intervene for bladder and bowel symptoms.
Objectives:
• To understand comorbidity in hospitalised older people with incontinence
• To describe the essential role of each healthcare professional on the multi-disciplinary team in relation to continence care
• To review medical, nursing and allied health skillsets that contribute to restorative continence care
• To present different international inpatient continence workflows
• To highlight research gaps in continence care of older adult inpatients
Learning Objectives - Demonstrate understanding of the impact of common disorders of older adults on continence during a hospital admission
- Demonstrate an understanding of shared multidisciplinary responsibility for pro-active restorative continence care during an admission
- Identify components of an inpatient continence workflow that delegate could translate into practice in their institution
