This workshop aims to emphasise the vital role of a multidisciplinary approach in assessing and managing pelvic floor disorders, recognising their complex, multi-compartmental nature and the limitations of single-speciality care. By understanding how collaborative input from colorectal surgeons, urogynaecologists, urologists, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, and clinical scientists enhances diagnostic accuracy, streamlines pathways, and improves the patient experience, participants will appreciate the value of integrated care. By the end of the workshop, attendees should be able to apply MDT principles, use structured assessment pathways, and contribute effectively to coordinated, patient-centred management of pelvic floor conditions.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognise the roles and contributions of different specialties—including colorectal surgery, urogynaecology, urology, physiotherapy, specialist nursing, and clinical science—in delivering comprehensive pelvic floor care
  • Understand how combined pelvic floor clinics and joint MDT discussions support holistic assessment, coordinated decision-making, and optimal management of patients with multicompartment pelvic floor disorders
  • Outline the coordinated journey from referral and diagnostic evaluation to conservative management, consideration of combined surgical procedures, and final treatment planning.
