Urinary tract infection (UTI) in patients with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (nLUTD) remains one of the most common, controversial, and practice-variable problems in neuro-urology. This workshop aims to clarify definitions, diagnostic thresholds, and management strategies for UTI in neurogenic patients, integrating pathophysiology, risk stratification, and real-world decision-making. Through short focused lectures and interactive multidisciplinary case discussions, participants will learn how to distinguish infection from colonization, rationalize antibiotic use, and individualize prevention strategies across different neurogenic conditions and bladder management methods.

Learning Objectives

  • Distinguish asymptomatic bacteriuria from clinically significant UTI in patients with neurogenic LUTD using contemporary definitions.
  • Apply a structured, case-based approach to diagnosing and managing recurrent or complicated UTI in neurogenic patients.
  • Integrate bladder management, urodynamic risk factors, and preventive strategies into individualized UTI management plans.
